Kentucky National 2013
On view March 8- March 29
This year's Kentucky
National Juror is Jill Dawsey, Associate Curator at the Museum of
Contemporary Art San Diego. 167 artists representing every state
submitted over 800 works for consideration. Of those entries, Dawsey
selected works by 24 artists for inclusion in the exhibition.
Kentucky National 2013 features work by Megan Abajian, Cody Arnall, Hannah Barnes, Mike Calway-Fagen, Al Denyer, Alexander Diaz, Megan Eyssell, Adam Forrester, Benjamin Gardner, Kay Knight, Sarah Leflar, Tess Michalik, Nicholas J. Naber, Aimee Odum, Leslie Pontz, Priscilla Roggenkamp, Ellen Siebers, Jeff Stanley, Kathleen Thum, Diana Wicai, Melissa Vogley Woods, Blade Wynne, and Jason Tanner Young. We're pleased to announce that two of the artists juried into the show are local: Diana Wicai, a member of the Murray Art Guild, and Cody Arnall, Art Technician for Murray State's Department of Art & Design.
The exhibition presents work in all media, including ceramics, textiles, collage, painting, found object sculpture, digital photography, and more. "Jurying this sixth iteration of the biennial Kentucky National has been both an honor and something of a challenge," says curator Jill Dawsey. "As a survey of contemporary art in America, the submissions to the Kentucky National seem representative of the sheer heterogeneity of contemporary practice, as well as its vibrancy."
