curated by Nick Naber
September 7th - October 6th, 2019
Opening Reception: Saturday September 7, 6-9PM
Every painting should tell a story or at least suggest one. I am interested in “expressive” painting but not necessarily in taking that idea to its logical extreme. The titles are my only shot at language, so they - like a poem’s title - refer to something the painting isn’t saying specifically. The compositions are all based on places, travel, journeys. I work from photographs or sketches or neither. Lately I’ve leaned heavily on drawing to get at something that can express whatever came before I could identify what I tried to do.
